Latest update: The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is extending the public comment period for the Draft Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area Management Plan (RAMP) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), for 45 days, giving the public until August 9, 2010 to provide input on the plan. You can read all the details here.

The existing RAMP, approved in 2005, was set aside by a Federal Court order in 2006 and remanded to BLM for further action.
The BLM is currently tasked with creating a new RAMP that will be acceptable to the court for 2011 and beyond.
The Draft of alternatives has been prepared, and the 90 day public comment period is currently in effect.
